Kylie and Simon (and Cleaver) founded Hempsta through a commitment to making the best choices they could to live sustainably. They DIY all the cleaning products so their home is chemical free and they make all their own skincare and bathroom products.
Hempsta was born through mastering the best formula for a natural deodorant. Kylie had suffered from hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) or acne inversa, which is infected sweat glands throughout her life. Since her teenage years, her sweat glands would inflame and she would get terrible boils under her arms which were not only sore but would create scars. The natural deodorants she tried in the market just did not work. She found they either didn’t mask her odour or they created redness and caused infections in her sweat glands.
Kylie and Simon researched all the sustainable options and worked through different formulas and eventually they found the wonderful benefits of hemp seed oil. Hemp seed oil then became the heart of each product. Hemp seed oil is known to be anti inflammatory and the fatty acids help to promote skin health by strengthening the skin and moisturising at the same time. Within a few weeks Kylie’s infections completely disappeared, and although she still has scars from previous years there are no new infections.
From there Hempsta was born, with a lot of passion and purpose to bring to market a natural deodorant that works by having hemp seed oil at the heart of the ingredients.
